About LabDAO
LabDAO is a remote research organization focused on computational life sciences. We are a small team of full-time scientists, engineers, and operators with experience in academia, biotech, pharma, and other related fields.
Our mission is to enable anyone with an internet connection to become a life science inventor. We recently raised a 3.6M seed round led by Inflection and Village Global to make this goal a reality.
We're working towards this by creating an open exchange for life science services that ranges from computational biology applications to physical lab services. Our current focus is PLEX, a client that leverages IPFS and Bacalhau to enable users to run intense computational biology tasks from any device.
As a small, dedicated team with a passion for advancing the life sciences, we take a hands-on approach to ensure that every member of our team is fully supported and aligned towards our shared mission. We prioritise clear communication and collaboration, with daily virtual engineering stand-ups and quarterly in-person meet-ups.
Your Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, your objective will be to build and maintain a reliable open infrastructure for containerized scientific compute apps.
Responsibilities
- Implement infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform or Ansible to ensure the reproducibility and scalability of our systems.
- Innovate autoscaling solutions around peer-to-peer architectures such as IPFS and Bacalhau, ensuring our systems can handle heavy computational workloads.
- Create workflow management solutions to integrate computational tools such as Apache Airflow or Common Workflow Language.
- Implement monitoring and alert systems to quickly detect and resolve any issues with our deployed software.
- Manage Networking and DNS on AWS to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Maintain and improve our CI/CD process to ensure efficient and seamless deployment of new features and updates.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working with containers and container orchestrators, with a strong focus on DevOps.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in remote teams and managing complex projects.
- Familiarity with web3 tools such as IPFS, LibP2P, and Bacalhau, as well as a strong interest in blockchain technology and its potential applications in the life sciences industry.
- Ideally experience working in open-source or scientific software teams, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with these environments.
- Experience within the life science industry or academia is a bonus, but not required
